Community Support

Transportation - E.S.C.O.R.T.

This service provides transportation in the City of Windsor and the Town of LaSalle to medical appointments, banking, shopping, social activities and more for those elderly who are physically or financially unable to use public transportation. Advance booking of one week is required; one van is also wheelchair-accessible.
 
Three options:
1. New Addition: Wheelchair-Accessible Van: A door-to-door service for passengers in wheelchairs.

2. Agency Van(s): A door-to-door service for those able to board a van with minimal assistance.

3. Individual volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to transport individuals who require
some assistance. The driver will accompany the older adult into their appointment and
see that they return home safely.

When booking a ride, please have the following information ready:
Time of appointment,  Expected length of appointment and Address of destination.
$7.50 each way, $15 round trip.

For your convenience, members may purchase ride cards good for 10 rides for $75.00.

 

Footcare

Basic footcare is provided by professional nurses with Basic and Advanced Foot Care Certification who clean the feet, trim nails and treat corns and calluses. Footcare Clinics are
offered at McEwan Avenue Centre, East Side Centre, and the Jewish Community Centre.

There is a footcare fee of $20 for Members and $28 for Non-Members. For the first appointment, the fee of $25 for Members and $32 for Non-Members includes a thorough assessment of the individual’s feet and general health.

**Advanced Footcare is also provided for residents at The Grandview Retirement Residence and Sunrise Assisted Living for a flat fee.
 


Friendly Visiting - Social and Safety

Older adults are visited by caring volunteers on a regular basis. Visits can include grocery shopping, banking, etc. If you would like to be matched with, or be a Friendly Visitor volunteer, please contact Ana at 519-254-1108. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE.
 


Telephone Assurance Program (T.A.P.)

This is a service providing assurance through regular phone calls. Participants make a commitment to make or receive one phone call each day. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE and it provides a great sense of security for you and your loved ones.
 


Home Maintenance

This service will include grass cutting services of the front, back and sides of your lawn. There
will be a fee for this service. Please call Ana at 519-254-1108 ext 128.
Transportation Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
 


Volunteers Needed

Centres for Seniors Windsor is seeking volunteers interested in helping out in our Community Support Services department, mainly with our transportation and friendly visiting services. If
interested please fill out a volunteer application form online or at one of our locations. Police clearance is required.
